Washington State Archives

He has over a decade of experience in assisting and advising agencies of local and state government in proper management of their public records.

Off the Shelf: Washington State's Paper Records Reduction Workgroup

In 2014, with the State Archives and the State Records Center approaching storage capacity, the Washington State Legislature directed the Office of the Secretary of State to form an eight-agency workgroup to study appropriate methods for reducing the amount of paper being stored by state agencies. They set a goal of 10% reduction in storage volume by the end of 2016, and another 10% by the end of 2018. This month's presentation takes a look at the strategies identified by the workgroup, and how they were able to achieve the 2016 goal a full year early.
