Welcome to the Columbia Basin Chapter Website!

Upcoming Chapter Event

March 18, 2010
Kit Shultz and Dan Ostergaard

Program: The Hanford Settler Photograph Collection

The Department of Energy’s Settler Photographic Collection (1894-1945) consists of images depicting life in the former towns of White Bluffs and Hanford before the Manhattan Project transformed the Hanford Site.

The presentation by Kit Shultz and Dan Ostergaard, both of Lockheed Martin, will describe the process of inventorying and preparing these pictures for posting on a public website and transfer of the photos to the Seattle branch of the National Archives.

A second set of about 8700 negatives, called the DuPont Collection, depicts the early years of the Hanford Engineer Works.  It will similarly be released to the public when processing is complete.
