Speakers Biographies 

Alex Acevedo

Alex has been with Symetra Life Insurance Company for over fifteen years and has been working in the records and information management field for over twenty years.  He graduated from Pace University in New York with Business Information Systems degree. Alex currently is the Great Northwest Region Director and previously served in numerous roles in his Bellevue Eastside Chapter.

Tyrene Bada

Tyrene has been in the IG/RM field for over a decade, and she has enjoyed every moment since she first heard the phrase "records retention." Tyrene is currently serving as a Director of the ARMA International Board and previously served in numerous roles in the Oregon Chapter.

Carissa Bourdon

Carissa Bourdon is the Records Officer for Washington State Fish and Wildlife. In her 5 years as a records professional, she participated in Enterprise Content Management (ECM) implementation, and has built an agency wide records management program for an agency of over 2000. Previous jobs include the Washington State Archives and experiences in both local and state government. Carissa is the Program Director of the Puget Sound Chapter of ARMA and serves as the Chair of the Washington State Records and Information Manager’s Forum.  

Tod Chernikoff

Tod Chernikoff is a Certified Records Manager, an Information Governance Professional and a Certified Information Professional. He has over twenty-five years of experience providing records and information management and information governance services to organizations and clients. He has served ARMA International in positions at the local, regional and international levels including as a member of the ARMA International Board of Directors. He received the ICRM's 2014 Alan Andolsen Award in recognition of outstanding CRM Mentorship. He is a member of the Records and Information Management Team at Navy Federal Credit Union where he is helping to enable RIM operations across the global enterprise.  

Jessica Marshall

Jessica has her Master’s degree in Archives Studies from the University of British Columbia.  She interned at several archival institutions and the transitioned to Electronic Records Management at Starbucks and then Sound Transit. She has been with Sound Transit for over eight years.   

Denise Simons

Denise is now currently with Puget Sound Energy, she is an experienced professional working with large and small enterprises throughout the US to provide guidance and develop policies and programs that support corporate goals to effectively manage information, reduce risk, and document compliance with retention, discovery, and information security and privacy regulations.

Karen Stauber 

Karen is currently the Records Supervisor for the City of Vancouver, Washington. She has a master’s degree in library and information science and has been working in the field for over 20 years.  Some of her previous positions include being the Records and Library Manager at Barr Engineering, the Supervisor of Information Services for the Property Management division of Target Corporation, and an Adjunct Professor at St. Mary’s University in Minneapolis.  Her passions include connecting people and information, mentoring, and teaching. Outside of work, Karen enjoys hiking, traveling, and wine tasting.  She also volunteers at a cat shelter and has a small pet sitting business.   

Jennifer Winkler

Jennifer Winkler is the City Records Manager for the City of Seattle. Hired in September 2001, Jennifer is responsible for the development and implementation of a City-wide Records Management Program for the City of Seattle and its many departments. Included in this is: developing retention schedules for each department, establishing city-wide policies and procedures for best records management practices, consultation on records management issues as necessary and partnering with Information Technology on the many aspects of Office365. She previously worked in records management at the University of Washington and King County and is a member of several records management organizations.  

Bruce Wirth

Bruce in April started a new position at the Port of Tacoma, but he was with Washington State Department of Health since 2017. He spent almost twenty years in the Army serving has Human Resource Manager or Administration Manager. He served in Korea and closer to home—Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
